WP Aligned’s Success with WP Umbrella: Streamlining WordPress Management

What’s your role in the company?

Why did you start using WP Umbrella? What support challenges were you trying to overcome?

When GoDaddy bought ManageWP things started to go downhill. That was before we started WP Aligned. But I used it in my agency so I was familiar with the product.

After failed attempts to get WP Remote and MainWP to work right, we decided to go all in with ManageWP.

I started looking for a replacement with the release of WordPress 6.1 which ManageWP has issues with. Ironically, that was the last time platform updates were made: November 3, 2021.

What are the benefits of having WP Umbrella as your WordPress management tool?

It has everything we need to manage our sites. A major bonus is ongoing support for the platform. Aurelio and Thomas (and Boris!) do a great job at listening to their customers, and the team has always been here to help when needed.

Why did you leave ManageWP for WP Umbrella? Has WP Umbrella allowed you to leave other tools (like backup plugin, monitoring solutions, etc).

ManageWP is not maintained anymore, and this motivated our switch. We still maintain backups and site monitoring. You can never have too many backups!

What features of WP Umbrella are you using? How does it help your agency? 

We mostly use WP Umbrella to update plugins, themes and WordPress core, as well as the database optimization tools. We are also using the team member feature which allow us to easily collaborate. We also use the reports. Overall, WP Umbrella helps the agency to save a countless amount of time every month.

What results have you seen since you implemented WP Umbrella ? Any hard metrics you can share about productivity or clients communication benefits ?

Our customers love the reports! At this point we have it so dialed in that we rarely get questions. So in that sense, communication has improved tremendously.

How does WP Umbrella fit into the rest of your WordPress stack? What tools or plugins do you also use?

Being a white label hosting company that also provides care plans, we run across all kinds of software, and we don’t really have a typical stack, but WP Umbrella is definitely our go-to tool for WordPress management.

What do you think is the biggest benefit of WP Umbrella?

Having everything in one place is great and the support provided is excellent. When something goes wrong (it rarely does), the team is always on it. This is the kind of collaboration I want to have with the tools I use.

Are there any opportunities you’re excited to unlock with WP Umbrella in the future?

The Safe Update feature will be game-changing. The team has started to work on it, it’s planned for April-May, but I can’t wait to use it. It’s going to revolutionize our workflow.

What advice would you give to others considering using WP Umbrella?

Just do it. Your time is too valuable to suffer through platforms that get no updates and self hosted nonsense.
